WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team continued its recent tear on Friday, running its win streak to nine games following impressive victories over both Bloomfield and No. 7 Grand Valley State. The Sharks needed just five innings in their 14-0 defeat of Bloomfield before handing Grand Valley State its first loss of the season by a final score of 6-4. Following their latest wins, the Sharks now improve to 15-7 overall on the season.
INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME ONE)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Eight different players tallied at least one RBI as NSU chased Bloomfield starting pitcher Jillian Holmes prior to an out even being recorded. The Sharks set the tone with four runs in the first inning and seven more in the second before
Sydney Lageyre put the finishing touches on the eventual run-rule with a three-run blast in the third. The run-rule victory marked the team's third in its last eight games.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Lageyre certainly had a game to remember, finishing 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored. The NSU lead-off batter also registered a walk and two stolen bases.
- Ryleigh Langwell swiped three bags in the victory, going a perfect 2-fo-2 at the dish.
- Madison Fine, Allie Janowiak and Tia Williams notched two RBI apiece.
- Emily Hess picked up the win in the circle, tossing five shutout innings while surrendering just one hit and one walk to go along with a season-high nine strikeouts.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP (GAME TWO)
Score: Nova Southeastern 6 (W: A. Connor, 7-1), No. 7 Grand Valley State 4 (L: G. Eggart, 4-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
For the second straight ball game, NSU plated four runs in the first inning, including two-run single by Fine. Grand Valley State responded with a three-run homer in the ensuing frame to trim the margin to 4-3. From there, though, both pitchers would settle in until the Sharks added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth on a two-out, two-run double by Williams. The Lakers would tack on a run in the bottom of the seventh, yet NSU hurler
Ashley Connor would slam the door shut to collect her fifth complete game of the year.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- NSU outhit GVSU by a margin of 10-6, with Langwell, Lageyre and Emerson Morris each notching two hits apiece.
- Connor fanned seven batters to run her record to 7-1.
