HOW IT HAPPENED

Sharks starting pitcher Daniel Rivero found himself in a jam to start the game as the Tritons loaded the bases. The right-hander worked his way through, escaping following a pop-out to keep Eckerd off the scoreboard. After beginning the second inning with back-to-back strikeouts, Rivero ran into issues again, allowing three straight batters to reach as Eckerd scored the first run of the game.

Eckerd tacked on runs in both the third and fourth innings, taking a 3-0 lead. Carlos Rey entered the game in relief of Rivero in the fifth inning, holding the Tritons off the scoreboard in his first inning of work.

The Sharks began their comeback efforts in the bottom of the sixth, Duncan Pastore led the frame off with a walk and stole second base to move into scoring position. Adam Frank and Adan Fernandez followed two consecutive singles, as Fernandez drove in Pastore to put the score at 3-1. Late in the inning, Adam Smith brought in Frank with a sacrifice fly.

Rey continued to provide shutdown innings for Nova Southeastern, keeping the momentum on the Sharks side. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Pastore tied the game with a sacrifice fly of his own, which scored Tyler Epstein. Alex Hernandez broke the tie in the bottom of the eighth inning with an RBI double down the left field line, driving in Smith, as NSU took a 4-3 lead.

Michael Dillion entered in to close the game in the ninth inning and set down the Tritons in order to earn his eighth save of the season.
