Hewitt, Sharks Announce 2022-23 Schedule

Sharks Ready to Dive into Competition

Fresh off its fifth Sunshine State Conference Championship in six years and multiple Division-II National Championships in 2021-22, Nova Southeastern's women's swim team is ready to defend its titles this season. SSC Swimmer of the Year and national champion Celina Marquez returns to campus with five All-SSC swimmers in Savanna Best, May Lowy, Sasha Maslova, Estelle Bauer and Victoria Ortiz. In addition, the Sharks return three of the four members of the National Championship-winning medley relay teams.

The men's swimming team is ready to go out and compete after finishing the 2021-22 season as the SSC Runner-Ups. The Sharks are one of the most experienced programs in the conference, with five All-SSC swimmers returning to campus in Steven Aimable, Luca Alessandrini, Jarryd Baxter, Anton Mueller and Olle Williamson. The 2022-23 season will be one to watch for the veteran Sharks.

Head Coach Ben Hewitt, the Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Decade (2010-2019), leads the Sharks for his sixth season and has the Sharks sights set on another successful season. "The 2022-23 campaign should be one of excitement, growth and challenges," said Hewitt. "The schedule was set up to embrace competition against some of the best programs at all levels.  We can't wait to dive into our schedule, racing quality opponents and coming together as a team."

Nova Southeastern begins the season with a trip to Gainesville, with the men's team going head-to-head with the Gators, while the women face-off against Arkansas and Florida in a tri-meet.  The Sharks then host the Shark Invitational on 10/7 and 10/8 at the Aquatic Center followed by the opening of SSC competition on 10/15 against Rollins.

The Sharks will then travel north to compete with Florida Atlantic on 11/4 before the Aquatic Center's Fall Frenzy (11/18-11/20). The year is closed out with an away Sunshine State Conference meet against Lynn on 12/17.

The Sharks will open 2023 on 1/13 with a four-school meet against Lynn, West Chester and Indian River at the Aquatic Center. Nova Southeastern is back to work the next day against Florida Southern College before finishing off the regular season against Keiser at home (1/21).

The Sunshine State Conference Championships will begin on February 15, where the Sharks will look to retain their women's title and earn the men's crown. Following the Sunshine State Conference competitions, the NCAA National Championship meet is set to begin on March 8.
