Sharks Win Third Consecutive Match, Beat Florida Tech

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks won their third consecutive match on Friday evening, defeating Florida Tech in four-sets in Sunshine State Conference action. Nadia Lindner paced the Sharks offense, tallying 13 kills and was one of three NSU student-athletes to record double-digit kills, as Taylor Stockman (12) and Kate Mihacevich (10) also had solid performances.

How it Happened
  • Nova Southeastern began the match on a 9-1 run, which featured eight unanswered points, allowing the Sharks to take the early momentum.  
  • NSU received points from Nadia Lindner, Taylor Stockman, Maddy Hooper, and Kate Mihacevich during the rally.  
  • Later in the set, the Sharks scored three consecutive points, with both Brittany Landrum and Lindner recording kills.  
  • A 5-0 run, started by a Madison Cook service ace, gave the Sharks a 19-9 advantage.  
  • Nova Southeastern claimed the opening set 25-16 over Florida Tech.  
  • NSU was able to get off to a quick start in the second set, jumping out to a 7-1 advantage.  
  • Stockman gave the Sharks the lead, before Landrum and Mihacevich teamed up for a pair of blocks, while Stockman and Landrum added kills.  
  • Mihacevich sparked a second lengthy run in the set for the Sharks, which was capped off by two consecutive service aces from Stockman, giving NSU a 14-4 lead.  
  • Nova Southeastern continued to cruise in the second set, as Cook added a service ace of her own to put the score at 21-7.  
  • The Sharks took a 2-0 lead in the match after winning the second set 25-10.  
  • Trailing in the third set 5-4, NSU was the beneficiary of three Florida Tech errors and took a 8-5 lead.  
  • Both Florida Tech and Nova Southeastern battled back-and-forth in the third set, as the score was tied at 17-17.  
  • The Panthers won the third set 25-21. 
  • Early in the fourth set, Nova Southeastern was able to take an 8-4 lead over Florida Tech. NSU went on a 4-1 run, which was led by back-to-back blocks from Stockman and Hooper.  
  • Landrum extended Nova Southeastern's lead to 13-8 over Florida Tech following two consecutive points. 
  • NSU earned their third consecutive win, closing the match on a 5-1 run, led by a kill from Mihacevich and sealed by a kill from Cook. The Sharks took the final set 25-16.

Head Coach Kacie Ehinger - "A great balance and efficient offensive night for us. I was very happy with our serving and ability to get them out of system. It created great opportunities for our block to get set up. Brittany Landrum and Maddy Hooper put up great blocks all night.

The Sharks take on Rollins in a Sunshine State Conference match on Saturday, October 14, from the Rick Case Arena. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
