How it Happened

First half – Lynn jumped out to an early 7-0 lead before the Sharks scored eight consecutive points off baskets by Madison Frederick and Zeyno Seren. The rest of the quarter featured a back-and-forth affair with the Sharks taking a 17-14 lead going into the second quarter. The Fighting Knights came out aggressive in the second quarter, scoring seven straight points. A layup from Alana Ellis and a three-pointer from Frederick allowed the Sharks to reclaim the lead with five minutes left in the half. Lynn picked up the intensity towards the end of the quarter, taking a 37-26 lead as they headed to the break.

Second half – Midway through the quarter, the Sharks cut the deficit to five after a layup from Sarei McGill. With under a minute remaining in the quarter, four consecutive points from Ellis brought the Sharks within three heading into the final frame. At the 4:31 mark, Kailyn Terrell knocked down a three-pointer to bring the Sharks within one, but the Fighting Knights answered with a three-pointer of their own, extending their lead to 57-53. The Sharks continued to battle the rest of the quarter, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit, ultimately dropping tonight's SSC opener against Lynn 76-67.

Coach's Corner

Head Coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry -  Lynn played well today and wanted it more. We have to get more aggressive on both ends of the floor to consistently win games. I was not impressed by our effort today and know we have more to give.
