FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 22 Nova Southeastern Sharks rallied late, but fell just short, falling against Colorado Christian, 7-6, on Saturday evening from the NSU Baseball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Top of the First – Colorado Christian was able to get on the scoreboard in the game's opening frame, plating two runs to take an early 2-0 lead.
Top of the Second – The Cougars tacked on two more runs, as the Sharks trailed 4-0.
Bottom of the Second –
Daniel Irisarri worked a lead-off walk and
Adam Smith followed with a two-run blast, cutting the CCU lead in half and putting the score at 4-2.
Top of the Third – Colorado Christian put two more runs across the plate for the third consecutive inning, leading 6-2 over NSU.
Bottom of the Fifth – Irisarri hit a triple into the left-center gap and scored on a wild pitch, as the Sharks got back on the scoreboard.
Bottom of the Seventh –
Duncan Pastore recorded two more stolen bases, putting him at four in the first two games of the season, starting a late inning rally for NSU. Irisarri followed with a walk, and a stolen base of his own, while
Kristian Noriega walked to load the bases for the Sharks.
Michael Uz and
Marcus Franco each worked a walk, bringing in two runs for NSU, as the Sharks trailed 6-5.
Top of the Eighth – The Cougars plated an insurance run in the inning with an RBI single, putting the score at 7-5.
Bottom of the Eighth – Ihosvany Castañeda led off the bottom of the frame with a triple, his first of the season, and scored on a Pastore sacrifice fly. NSU went into the final inning trailing 7-6, but the Sharks were unable to complete the comeback, dropping their first game of the season.
STAT OF THE NIGHT
Ryan Bradarich started the 2023 season how he ended the 2022 campaign on the mound for NSU, pitching 4.2 innings, striking out seven, and not allowing an earned run against CCU. Bradarich holds a 1.50 ERA over his last 12 innings of work.
