NSU Takes Down King in Thriller

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Softball team won its nineteenth game Sunday morning, defeating King University 7-6 in extra innings. The Sharks were led by a 3-hit, 3-RBI performance from Hayley Lynch in the final game of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED

TOP 4th | King jumped out to a 1-0 lead with a single through center field.

BOT 4th | Madison Fine worked a walk and was advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt from Samantha Burke. With two outs, Hayley Lynch tripled and drove in the tying run.

BOT 5th | The Sharks put a runner in scoring position with one out after a walk from Alyssa Drogemuller, shortly after, NSU took a 2-1 lead after a double from Tia Williams.

TOP 7th | King loaded the bases and claimed a 5-2 lead after a bases-clearing double.

BOT 7th | The Sharks capitalized on a pair of errors from the Tornado and drove in a run as a result. Then, with the bases loaded, Lynch continued her hot-streak and knocked in a pair of runs on a double through the left side to tie the game.

BOT 9th | With both teams failing to break the tie, the game went into extra innings.

TOP 10th | With two outs, King drove in the placed runner to take a 6-5 lead over NSU.

BOT 10th | Lynch led off the inning and sacrificed to move the runner to third. Back-to-back walks loaded the bases for Nova Southeastern, and a HBP from Drogemuller drove in the tying run with just one out. With the game on the line, Williams drove in the game-winning run and secured a 7-6 win for the Sharks.

UPCOMING

Nova Southeastern will welcome Flagler to the AD Griffin Sports Complex on Wednesday, March 15 for a mid-week double-header. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
