FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Women's Soccer Team (5-5-3, 4-2-3 SSC) looks to advance to the Sunshine State Conference Semifinals as they take on Eckerd College (4-5-6, 3-4-3 SSC) in the SSC Quarterfinal match.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EST at NSU Soccer Stadium.
The Sharks had a tough start to the season, but that didn't stop them. They secured points in eight out of their last ten matches, leading to the Sharks securing the third seed in the tournament. Last season, the Sharks fell short in double overtime to Florida Southern in the SSC Quarterfinals.
The Sharks are led by their forwards, Sofia Suarez and Tabea Schutt have led them in goals this season and look to continue their efforts in this postseason run. Suarez has contributed all season, earning herself the SSC Offensive Player of the Week honor. Schutt has been a staple for the Sharks nightly, as she has two goals and one assist in the last three games, finding her form right on time for the postseason. Emilie Schroeder has been the anchor for this Sharks squad as she accumulated 55 saves throughout the season.
Freija Aflenzer and Cadence Talbert spearheaded the Tridents to the sixth seed, with Aflenzer leading the team in goals and Talbert winning SSC Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
Both teams played each other in the regular season. The game was a defensive battle. A late goal from Freija Aflenzer led the Tritons to a 2-1 win over the Sharks.
The winner of this SSC Showdown will head to Thursday's SSC Semifinal against the Rollins/Lynn winner.
