FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team opened their home conference campaign at the Rick Case Arena with a 74-55 loss against the Barry Buccaneers on Saturday Afternoon.

First Half—The first few minutes of the game were toughly fought. The Sharks held the Buccaneers' offense in check and took a 10-5 lead off a Dash Shaw 3-pointer. The Bucs started to trade buckets with the Sharks, taking a 17-16 advantage after one. In the second quarter, NSU picked up the intensity, taking the ball to the basket while drawing some early fouls. Madison Cloonan hit a layup, cutting the Sharks deficit to two points. Kailyn Terrell then hit a big three to bring the score to 29-27, advantage BU. Barry ended the half on an 11-5 run to go up 40-32 heading into the break.
Second Half - The Sharks got off to a hot start in the second half, going on a 9-0 run to erase the halftime lead. As the third quarter continued, the Buccaneers' defense was relentless, leading to a 10-point advantage as they headed to the final frame. The Sharks struggled in the fourth as the Bucs would go on to secure the 74-55 win over Nova Southeastern.
Head Coach LeAnn Freeland-Curry - Barry played a great game. I was impressed by their toughness and overall execution on both ends. Our players must learn from this loss and improve. We have a lot of room for growth.

Nova Southeastern will return to the Rick Case Arena on Thursday, December 19th, for a home matchup against Pittsburg State University. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM.
