#25 Sharks End Season in South Region Championship

VALDOSTA, Ga. - After a record-breaking 2023-24 campaign, the Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team saw their season come to an end in the NCAA South Region Championship against Tampa. The Spartans took down NSU 63-56 in a thrilling back-and-forth SSC duel.

How it Happened

First Half – The Sharks jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead capped off by a three-pointer from Kailyn Terrell. UT answered with a bucket of their own, but the Sharks continued to apply the pressure offensively, taking a 14-6 lead heading into the second quarter. With 7:16 left in the second quarter, Aubrey Stupp knocked down a jumper to give NSU an 11-point advantage. Tampa weathered the storm, clawing their way back into the game and cutting their deficit to four points as they headed into the half. 

Second Half – Scales jump-started a 10-4 Shark run to kick off the quarter, giving NSU a 38-29 lead. The Spartans wouldn't go away, chipping away at the Sharks lead and ultimately taking their first lead of the game after a last-second layup put UT up 45-43 heading into the final frame. Both teams began to trade baskets in the fourth quarter before the Spartans ended the game on a 15-4 run to secure the victory and claim their second consecutive South Region title.
