#11 Sharks Secure SSC Regular Season Title

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The #11 ranked Nova Southeastern Women's Basketball team secured their first Sunshine State Conference regular season title since going back-to-back in the 2014-15, 2015-16 seasons. Prior to the game, NSU athletics honored Nicole Scales, India Shepherd, Mia Jones, Kyarrah Grant, and Morgan Kane with a senior day ceremony.

How it Happened

First Half -  Both teams came out trading baskets as the Sharks took an early 10-7 lead after a layup from Morgan Kane. The Sharks would then close the quarter on a 12-4 run sparked by a three-pointer from India Shepherd, giving NSU a 22-11 lead heading into the second quarter. The Sharks came out hot, going on a 14-3 run capped off by a layup from Suzan Kinran, pushing NSU ahead 36-16. Nova continued to push the tempo throughout the rest of the quarter, taking a commanding 49-23 lead heading into the break.

Second Half -  NSU started the half with back-to-back buckets from Kane and Scales, putting the Sharks up 30 points. The defensive masterclass from NSU continued as a steal from Jess Moors set up a layup for Delaney Wolfe on the other end, closing out a 28 point quarter for the Sharks. With 5:22 left to play, a layup from Alana Ellis gave the Sharks a 43 point lead, their biggest lead of the game. NSU kept their foot on the gas pedal, cruising to a 91-52 SSC victory over Saint Leo to close out the regular season.

The No. 11 Nova Southeastern Sharks Women's Basketball team will host the quarterfinal round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament against Florida Southern beginning on Tuesday, March 5th, at the Rick Case Arena.
