Sharks Gear Up for SSC Quarterfinals

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- The fifth-seeded Nova Southeastern Sharks will hit the road tonight, as they'll face the fourth-seeded Rollins Tars in the quarterfinal round of the SSC Tournament. The Sharks, who have an 8-3-3 record (5-3-2 mark in SSC play), are coming off a 1-0 win over Embry-Riddle to close the regular season and will look to carry that momentum into the tournament.

The Sharks got the best of Rollins in their first matchup, winning 2-1 back on October 11. In that game, the Sharks got goals from Santiago Hoyos Lopez and Toga Katsuma, who have led their offensive production. Hoyos Lopez leads the Sharks' offensive attack with 11 goals, five assists and 27 points on the season. Katsuma follows behind him with five goals, one assist and 11 points on the year. Katsuma scored the lone goal in Wednesday's victory over Embry-Riddle to close the regular season.

The Tars, meanwhile, have a 8-3-5 record (5-2-3 mark in SSC play) and are coming off a 1-1 draw against nationally-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic. The Tars are led by Justin Nelson, who has seven goals, four assists and 18 points on the season. Pablo Herrero follows behind him with three goals, four assists and 10 points. Rodrigo Ayala Omana scored the lone goal in their earlier 2-1 loss to the Sharks.

Kickoff is scheduled for tonight at 6pm at Cahall-Sandspur Field, and the winner will advance to the SSC Semifinals. To stay up-to-date on Sharks Soccer, be sure to follow on Instagram and Twitter/X at NSU_MSoccer.
