How it Happened

The Sharks' full court pressure was on full display, as they opened the game with a 21-0 run. Bridie McCann scored the Sharks' first eight points off the strength of two threes and a jumper, and Markayla Holland then scored off a missed free throw to give the Sharks a 10-0 lead at the 5:21 mark. The Conquistadors finally got a bucket with just under five minutes remaining, but the Sharks kept up the pressure, and they went into the second quarter leading 35-6.

The Sharks' athleticism kept bothering the Conqs and they continued generating turnovers. NSU went up by 40 points just before the under-5 media timeout of the second quarter, and the lead ballooned to 50 points after a layup from Hailey Chiles. The Sharks led 67-16 at the half.

The second half was much of the same, as the Sharks' pressure led to more easy buckets, and they coasted to the 126-45 victory. Unique Horton led the Sharks with 17 points and 14 rebounds, and Chiles added 17 points and five boards. Holland, McCann, Chynna Mattair and Kyrstin Green each scored 13 points apiece, and Kaliyah Morales added 11 points to close the double-figure scorers for the Sharks.

Shark Standouts

Green had a game-high seven steals, while Celeste Reed had 13 boards and tied Holland with five steals.
