How it Happened

Both teams got off to a slow start, as NSU held a slight 4-2 advantage halfway through the period. The Sharks briefly went ahead 8-2 on a layup from Holland at the 3:56 mark, but the Lions cut the deficit after sinking a three-pointer. The Sharks led 12-9 after the first quarter.

The Lions cut the NSU lead to 12-11 in the second quarter after a made jumper from Hunter Conway, but the Sharks' fullcourt press soon began making an impact. NSU began forcing turnovers and went up 27-17 on a three-pointer from McCann at the 5:44 mark, and they later went up 42-22 on two free throws from Simpson. The Sharks doubled the Lions up on an and-one from Holland, and they maintained a 48-24 lead going into the break. NSU outscored the Lions 36-15 in that decisive second quarter, shooting 11-of-17 (64.7%) from the field and shooting 7-of-10 from three-point range.

NSU went up by 31 on a pullup three-pointer from Morales with just over eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. They led 74-41 at the end of the third, and they went up 81-41 on a three-pointer from Brianna Williams at the 8:23 mark of the fourth quarter.
