Sharks take down #9 Embry-Riddle on the road

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern women's basketball team took down the ninth-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles Wednesday evening at the ICI center. Aubrey Stupp led the way for NSU, scoring a game-high 26 points.

First Half – Payton Graber scored the Sharks first six points to start the action. With 4:23 left to play in the quarter, Embry-Riddle took a one-point lead before a quick 6-0 run by Madison Cloonan and Alana Ellis put NSU back in front 16-11. Aubrey Stupp ended the quarter with three straight points to give the Sharks a 19-17 lead going into the second quarter. Stupp kicked off the second quarter action with a jump shot, which was followed by a three-pointer from Jess Moors, pushing NSU ahead 24-17. The rest of the quarter featured a back-and-forth scoring affair before back-to-back three-pointers from Stupp and Kailyn Terrell closed out the half, giving the Sharks an eight-point advantage going into the halftime break.  

Second Half – With 5:55 left to play in the third quarter, the Eagles stormed back and cut their deficit to four points. Shortly after, Stupp scored seven straight points to put the Sharks back up eight. Embry-Riddle weathered the storm again as they headed to the final frame down 47-51. Tenacious defense from the Sharks posed problems for the Eagles in the fourth quarter, ultimately leading them to an impressive 72-67 victory over the ninth-ranked Eagles.

Coach's Corner

Head Coach LeAnn-Freeland Curry - We had a great team win tonight. Our players were very focused and finished the game strong. It was great to see Aubrey and Dash knock down big free throws late to seal the win. Our players worked very hard for this road win.

What's Next
Nova Southeastern will return to the Rick Case Arena on March 1st to close out the regular season against Rollins. Before the game, NSU will honor ten seniors. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
