Sharks fall in Doubleheader against Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team were swept in the Sunshine State Conference series against the #21 Rollins College Tars on Saturday afternoon at Alfond Stadium. The Sharks dropped the first game 17-7 on Saturday and fell in game 2 of the doubleheader 4-3.

How it Happened
  • The Sharks got on the board first with a solo home run from Gabriel Esquivel, to take the 1-0 lead.
  • Rollins scored eight runs in the third and fourth inning to go up 8-1 after 4 innings.
  • Ronny Medina, Zeth Rodriguez, and Xavier Moron got the Sharks right back in it as they combined for 3 Home Runs and 5 RBI, to cut the lead to 8-6.
  • Rollins responded back with 6 runs in the 6th and 7th innings, to expand the lead to 14-6.
  • Justin Wachs added an RBI driving in Zeth Rodriguez to cut the lead to 14-7.
  • Rollins would score three more in the 8th, as the Sharks would fall 17-7.
How it Happened
  • Anthony Caro threw 3 innings scoreless along with 7 strikeouts.
  • The Tars were the first ons to break the scoreless drought in the 5th inning as they took a 1-0 lead.
  • The Sharks then stormed back in the 6th inning as Boris Pena added an RBI Double and Ty Torti added a 2 RBI single to give the Sharks a 3-1 lead.
  • Rollins cut the lead back down to 1 in the bottom of the 6th as they scored off a double to center field.
  • Sharks gave up 2 in the bottom of the ninth to fall to Rollins, 4-3.
