Sharks secure SSC series sweep over Tars

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Softball team secured the doubleheader sweep over the Rollins Tars Saturday afternoon at the NSU Softball Stadium. A home run by Tori Copeland highlighted NSU's game one win. The Sharks then fought back in game two, taking down the Tars 7-6 in 13 innings to complete the SSC series sweep.

How it Happened

BOT 4th - Tori Copeland homered to left field, putting the Sharks ahead 1-0.

BOT 5th - A sacrifice fly by Brenna Lokeinsky brought home NSU's second run of the game.

Cassidy Duskin continued her stellar play in the pitching circle, ultimately leading the Sharks to the 2-0 game one victory over Rollins.

How it Happened

TOP 2nd - Rollins struck first with a home run to left field, going up 2-0. 

BOT 2nd - An RBI double by Matthews, brought home Abbey Moore to cut the Sharks deficit to one run.

BOT 3rd - With the bases loaded, the Sharks were walked twice, putting two runs on the board to take a 3-2 advantage.

TOP 5th - The Tars answered with two runs of their own to reclaim the lead.

TOP 6th - Rollins picked up where they left off, scoring two more runs to push their lead to 6-3.

BOT 6th - Matthews continued her impressive play, hitting a home run to right field, cutting Rollins' lead to two runs.

BOT 7th - Lauren Margolis started the action with a home run to bring NSU within one run. Shortly after, a sacrifice fly by Cassidy Duskin tied the game at six apiece.

BOT 13th - A fielder's choice off a hit by Duskin brought home Samantha Dixon and secured the doubleheader sweep for the Sharks.

What's Next

The Sharks will travel to the USSSA Space Coast Games in Melbourne, Fla., on March 19th to face Franklin Pierce and Molloy University. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
