FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team dropped the Sunshine State Conference series opener 6-5 to the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Friday night at the NSU Baseball Complex.
Keyler Gonzalez (ND, 8.1 IP, 8 Ks) was stellar on the mound for NSU, limiting Palm Beach Atlantic to just three hits and one earned run in a career-high in innings pitched.

- Keyler Gonzalez began the game by setting down the first nine PBA hitters he faced.
- The Sailfish broke through on the scoreboard with an RBI single, taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.
- Zeth Rodriguez tallied a single for NSU, sending Jack Cue to third base, but the Sharks were unable to score the tying run after two consecutive strikeouts.
- Gonzalez continued to pitch well, retiring his final 12 hitters, as he threw a career-high 8.1 innings.
- The Sharks tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly from Roylan Quevedo.
- In the top of the tenth inning, a defensive lapse by the Sharks allowed PBA to reclaim the lead.
- Quevedo added a second sacrifice fly, tying the game once again, in the bottom of the frame.
- The Sailfish scored four runs in the top of the 11th, taking a 6-2 lead over NSU.
- Justin Wachs came up clutch with a two-run triple in the bottom half of the frame, putting the score at 6-4.
- Wachs later scored on a wild pitch, but that was the final run the Sharks could muster, as NSU fell 6-5.
