#4 Sharks Earn 16th Straight Win, Best Start in Program History

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Bridie McCann dropped 16 points, Taydra Simpson added 15 points, a season-high five steals and four rebounds, and the #4 Nova Southeastern Sharks defeated Florida Tech 74-50 at home. The Sharks moved to 16-0, the best start in program history, and earned their eighth conference victory.

How it Happened

The Sharks raced out to a 10-1 lead, capped by a Bridie McCann three-pointer. The Panthers managed only one free throw through the game's opening minutes and trailed 14-1 at the media timeout. NSU extended its lead to 15 after a jumper from Kaliyah Morales with just over two minutes remaining. The Sharks led 21-4 at the end of the first quarter.

McCann hit a three-pointer to open the second quarter scoring, pushing NSU's lead to 20 points. She later hit another jumper from the right baseline to give NSU a 30-6 lead at the 7:29 mark. A free throw from Chynna Mattair gave the Sharks a commanding 41-11 lead with 3:08 remaining in the half. The Sharks continued pressing the issue on defense, and they led 47-14 at intermission after two free throws from Mattair. 

NSU led 52-18 at the under-5 media timeout of the third, and they led 60-30 at the end of the quarter. The Sharks led by as many as 34 points in the fourth, and they finished off the 74-50 victory. For the game, the Sharks scored 36 points off turnovers and their reserves outscored the Panthers' 33-8.

What's Next
