How it Happened

First Set (25-9, EC) – Despite Eckerd hanging on to a comfortable early lead, the Sharks stayed close until the Tritons blasted into orbit. Eckerd ended the set on a 13-2 run highlighted by eight unanswered to take the first set in front of a home crowd on the Tritons' Breast Cancer Awareness Night. The Sharks only managed two kills in a set they hit in the negatives in, while the Tritons dominance was reflected hitting .475 as a team in the opening race to 25.

Second Set (25-16, EC) – NSU rebounded with a closer set against Eckerd, but never managed to claim a lead against the hosts. The Sharks were able to pull within five at 21-16 but Eckerd ended the set on a 4-0 run to take a two sets to none lead. The Sharks were assisted in staying in the set by its defense with solo blocks from Taylor Norris and Natalya Bergant, with Bergant and Hadley Dantzler also combining on a block to bring the Sharks to three in the set.

Third Set (25-16, EC) – Similar to the first set, the Tritons used a long scoring run to pull ahead of the Sharks as Eckerd scored ten unanswered to take a ten-point lead. The Sharks stayed fairly even with the Tritons from that point forward helped by kills from Langdon Blackstock and Natalya Bergant and a service ace from Taylor Teaman. NSU only collected four kills to seven errors committed on 39 attacks.

Taylor Teaman and Macy Lentz both collected 10 digs as Lentz led the Sharks in both digs and assists. Natalya Bergant led NSU in points with 7.5 with six kills and two total blocks. NSU hit .038 as a team.
