How it Happened

The Sharks opened the game with a 6-2 run and extended their lead to 11-4 after a three-pointer from Ryan Davis and a fastbreak score from Dallas Graziani. Embry-Riddle drew within four on a jumper from Jared Berry at the 14:34 mark. The Sharks went up by eight, 20-12, on a Ross Reeves' jumper just before the under-12 media timeout, and they took a 26-15 lead-- their largest of the game-- on a bucket from Jaxon Nap with just over 11 minutes remaining. However, the Eagles clawed back within striking distance, drawing within three points on a score from Landen Harwood and again on a three-pointer from Chalier Torres. The Eagles tied the score at 45 when Berry hit another three-pointer with 2:53 remaining, and Logan Lewis tied the score again at 49 moments later. NSU's Alex Sessoms drained a corner three with less than a minute remaining, but the Eagles responded with a three of their own, and the Sharks led 54-53 at the end of a high-scoring first half.

The Eagles took a 56-54 lead on a three-pointer to open the second half, but Ryan Davis drilled a three in response to snatch the lead right back for NSU. Neither team could gain much separation and traded baskets through the middle frame. Dawson Barr tied the score at 63 with a jumper and later pushed the Eagles' lead to 69-64 on another jumper. Both teams racked up fouls, and the pace slowed down considerably. The Sharks tied the score at 71 on a free throw from Reeves and tied it again at 75 on free throws from Nap. Graziani hit a crucial three-pointer to tie the game at 80 with just over seven minutes remaining.

The Eagles tied the game at 81 on a free throw from Berry, but the Sharks took an 88-83 lead after Reeves knocked down two more free throws with just under four minutes remaining. Neither team was able to score down the stretch, until Davis banged in a dagger three-pointer with 90 ticks remaining to give the Sharks a 91-83 lead. Embry-Riddle did try to extend the game and drew within 96-92 with less than 20 seconds left, but the Sharks knocked down their free throws to close out the 98-92 victory.
