FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Nova Southeastern Sharks opened their season this weekend, as they welcomed the West Florida Argonauts and Alabama-Huntsville Chargers to town for the SSC/GSC Crossover Classic. The Sharks fell to West Florida 6-2 and then 3-2 in Friday's double-header action. NSU picked up a 9-1 victory over Alabama-Huntsville for their first win of the season on Saturday, but fell 4-0 to the Argonauts in Saturday's evening contest. The Sharks then split Sunday's double-header against Alabama-Huntsville, winning the first game 5-4 but losing the second 2-1.

(GAME 1)
- The Argonauts got on the board first, as they tacked on a run at the top of the second inning. The Sharks responded in the bottom of the second with an RBI single from Bella Ligotti, which tied the score 1-1. NSU scored again and went ahead 2-1 on Destiny Lewis' sacrifice fly in the third inning.
- After neither team scored through the next two innings, the Argonauts got a three-run homerun in the sixth inning, giving them a 4-2 advantage. West Florida hit another two-run homer in the inning, and that 6-2 lead held for the remainder of the contest.

(GAME 2)
- The Argonauts scored at the top of the third inning on an error to take a 1-0 lead, but NSU quickly responded with Gianna Russo's RBI moments later. The Sharks then took a 2-1 lead at the bottom of the third on Taylor Rogers' sacrificial fly, bringing home another run.
- West Florida later scored on an RBI double in the fifth inning to tie the score 2-2, and they scored the game-winning run on an RBI triple at the top of the seventh.

(GAME 3)
- The Chargers struck first on an RBI double at the top of the first. However, Destiny Lewis homered for the Sharks, bringing the crowd to their feet and tying the score 1-1.
- NSU's Taylor Rogers hit another homerun in the fourth inning to go up 2-1.
- The Sharks dominated in the fifth inning, as Lewis hit a triple and batted in two runs; Gianna Russo recorded an RBI double, Rogers recorded an RBI single, and Emily Garcia smashed a three-run shot to center field to give NSU a commanding 9-1 lead. The Sharks scored eight unanswered runs on their way to their first win of the season.

- Neither team was able to score through three innings. However, West Florida got on the board first with two runs in the fourth inning, the second coming on an RBI double, to go up 2-0.
- The Argonauts scored two more runs in the seventh inning on two errors, taking a commanding 4-0 lead. The Sharks were unable to respond, and that lead held for the remainder of the game.

(GAME 5)
- Christina D'Agostino tripled to right field, bringing home two runs and giving NSU a 2-0 lead in the second inning. The Chargers, however, tied the score and later went up 3-2 in the fourth, as Ballentin, Temple and Smith all batted in runs.
- Taylor Rogers' sacrificial fly brought home a run to tie the score at 3, and Abbey Moore hit a two-run single to give NSU a 5-3 advantage in the fifth inning. The Chargers scored a final run on a wild pitch, but the Sharks held on for the 5-4 victory.

(GAME 6)
- In the latter half of Sunday's double header, the Chargers grabbed an early lead after an unearned run on a fielder's choice and a sacrificial fly, which brought home another run.
- NSU's Brianna Matthews scored on a wild pitch in the fourth inning, cutting the deficit to 2-1, but neither team scored the rest of the game, and Alabama-Huntsville held on for the win.
The Sharks finish the weekend with a 2-4 record and will prepare for next weekend's double-headers. They'll face Saginaw Valley State on Friday (5PM and 7PM), Bentley University on Saturday (12PM and 2PM), and East Strousburg University on Sunday (12PM and 2PM).
