PITTSBURGH – The NCAA has re-seeded the eight regional champions and has announced the game time and opponent at the 2026 NCAA DII Men's Basketball Elite Eight for Nova Southeastern University.
After winning its fifth-straight South Region Tournament and sixth-straight in years the Sharks have competed in, NSU learned its fate for its Elite Eight matchup in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
NSU enters UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse as the No. 1 national seed drawing the No. 8 seed, Black Hills State University. The national quarterfinal matchup is on Wednesday, March 25. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., available to watch on ESPN+ with a subscription.
The Sharks advanced to their fifth straight Elite Eight after taking down Morehouse, Montevallo and Alabama-Huntsville in the South Region Tournament at Rick Case Arena.
The Sharks and Yellow Jackets have only met once, in the 2022 Elite Eight, where NSU saw its run fall in a 77-67 loss to BHSU. It was the final loss in the NCAA Tournament before
Jim Crutchfield and the Sharks won their first national title the following season in 2023. It also marks the last time NSU lost an NCAA Tournament game outside of the National Championship Game.
Black Hills State makes its way to Pittsburgh at 30-4, after winning the South Central Region Tournament as a six-seed over top-seeded Dallas Baptist, 76-62. The Yellow Jackets are on a 13-game winning streak and won the RMAC Tournament on their home court in Spearfish, S.D.
The Yellow Jackets are led by redshirt sophomore Cam Lowe. The Colorado State transfer averages 17.4 points per game, but head coach Ryan Thompson takes a more balanced approach with six players scoring nine points per game or higher.
No team is better at taking away second-chance opportunities than BHSU, which ranks first nationally in defensive rebounds per game with an average of 29.
The Elite Eight tips off on Wednesday at noon with three-seed Gannon taking on six-seed Michigan Tech. At 2:30 p.m., the two-seed Cal St.-East Bay takes on the seven-seed Oklahoma Baptist. Nova Southeastern, if it wins, will take on the winner of the nightcap at 8:30 p.m. between four-seed Daemen and five-seed Lander.
