AS A JUNIOR (2010-11)
Made it to Nationals in the 200-yard breast stroke and as a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team. The relay team finished Nationals in seventh place and placed 11th overall in the 200-yard breast stroke. Throughout the season also posted a personal best time in the 200-yard IM. 

PREVIOUS SCHOOL
Swam for two season at the University of South Carolina… Finished tenth and fourteenth in the 100y and 200y breaststroke at the SEC Championships in 2009…

HIGH SCHOOL
Swam at Stratford High School for four years under Jennifer Condon… During his senior season he was named a high school All-American and was a high school champion in the 100y breaststroke and 50m freestyle…

CLUB EXPERIENCE
Swam for the City of Charleston Southern Marlins Race Team… He is currently a state record holder in the 100y breaststroke short course… In 2008 was a long course state champion in the 100y breaststroke, 100y butterfly and the 200y individual medley… He was named to the USA Swimming All-American team in 2007 and 2008. 

PERSONAL
A biology major… Lists his favorite food as lasagna and his favorite subject in school is anatomy… His favorite movies are Iron Man I and II and his favorite show is Family Guy…Robert Downey Jr. is his favorite actor and VFB Stuttgart is his favorite sports team… Son of Jochen and Angelika Hornikel and has one sibling, Bjoern.
