AS A SENIOR (2014-15)
Took sixth place in the 100-yard freestyle (48.49) against Bridgeport…Top finish in the 200-yard freestyle came against Indian River with a time of (1:45.50)…Came in 10^th in the 500-yard freestyle (4:37.05), 16^th in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:48.57) and 14^th in the 1650-yard freestyle (16:21.01) at SSC Championships.

AS A JUNIOR (2013-14)
All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team selection…Placed second in the 1,650y freestyle with a time of 15:51.54 at the 2014 Sunshine State Conference Championship… He was successful across the board in the distance events at conference, competing in the finals of the 500 and 1,000y free races.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2012-13)
Did not compete. 

AS A FRESHMAN (2011-2012)
At the All-Florida Invite (10/7-9/2011)  Cates  finished seventh with a time of 16:23.06 in the 1650 -yard  freestyle... Swimming versus Saint Leo(10/15/2011) finished second (9:53.40) in the 1000- yard freestyle…Against Rollins(11/5/2011) he swam a (4:41.96)  posting a  NCAA B-qualifying time in the 500-yard freestyle and he stopped the clock the fastest  in a time of (1:43.64) in the 200- yard freestyle, posting another  NCAA B-qualifying time…Swimming against Indian River & Florida International University (11/12/2011) was the best male Shark in the 200-free, he finished in third-place (1:45.42)… he won with a B-cut time of 4:41.92 in the men’s 500-free at Tampa (12/3/2011 ) ...Swimming versus Florida Southern he captured second place with a B-cut qualifying time of 16:16.99 in the 1650-freestyle which landed  third place…Swimming at the SSC Championships he won the1650-free and  set  the SSC record with a B-cut qualifying time of 15:38.34… Swimming in Division II NCAA Championships he finished 11th in the 1650 –free with a time of 15:42.57. 

HIGH SCHOOL
Cates swam for four years while at Charlotte High School...He was the high point scorer his senior year...He was coached by Jeff Cain...

CLUB EXPERIENCE
He swam for the Charlotte county blue fins and was coached by Jim Lindberg.

PERSONAL
Cates love the Office...The 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln is his favoritte historical person...His parents have been the most influential in his life, his father's name is Robert and his mother's name is Whitney...His sister is Amanda.
