AS A FRESHMAN (2012-13)
At the SSC championships, Schumes competed in the 200 and 400-yard individual medley and 200-yard butterfly events. In the 200 and 400-yard IM she came in ninth and fourth with times of 2:09.38 and 4:34.59. In the 200-yard butterfly she came in sixth with a time of 2:07.55. Swimming at the Shark Invitational, she was 13th in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:14.01. She was fifth in both the 400-yard IM and the 200-yard butterfly  with times of 4:36.67 and 2:09.37, respectively.

CAREER
Swam under coach Phil Cole at Bloomington High School South… she broke the school record in the 200 Individual Medley which had not been broken since 1978…she contributed to school records in the 200 and 400 Freestyle Relays… Her sophomore year she received the "Most Improved Swimmer Award"…  was named by the Herald Times "All- Area Team" for three years straight…she graduated with an honors diploma…was part of the National Honors Society and was selected as a Leader of Tomorrow.
 
 PERSONAL
Marine Biology  major…she loved the location of  NSU…Lists her brother as her role model because he has lived on his own and has made a living starting at  a very young age.…Enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and kayaking in her spare time…Lists seafood as her favorite food...Lists English as her favorite subject in school… Her most memorable moment was breaking the school record in the 200 -Individual Medley…Daughter of Debbie Schumes , has a brother Adam.
