Biography

AS A SENIOR (2016)
Started his season strong with a ninth place finish at the FAU Invitational 5k with a mark of 16:14…Set his season’s best 8k time at the Disney Classic, where he finished 47 of 256 runners with a time of 26:48…His impressive race performance at the NCAA South Region Finals 10k earned him a spot in the All-South Region squad…Finished the NCAA Division II National in 32:52…Mentioned in the SSC Fall Commissioners Honor Roll list.

AS A JUNIOR (2015)
Tran returned to the track and field team and competed in six events in 2015...Had his best 5K time at Embry-Riddle, claiming third with a time of 15:45.05...Placed seventh at the Peach Belt Conference Championship with a time of 32:47.33...Won the 1,500m run at the Multicultural Games with a time of 4:19.99.
 

AS A FRESHMAN (2012)
Tran joined the team before the season but could not compete until the postseason due to his strict class schedule in the NSU nursing program…After joining the team for the Sunshine State Conference Championship, Tran became a difference maker and helped win the Sharks’ their first Sunshine State Conference and NCAA South Region Championship…Ran a time of 26:46 at the SSC Championships, placing in the top-15…Clocked in at 32:49 at the NCAA National Championship, the sixth best 10K time in program history.

HIGH SCHOOL
Ran four years of cross country at Oscar Frommel Smith High School...Also participated in his high school wrestling team for 2 years...Claimed the MVP Cross Country award his senior year in high school.

PERSONAL
Born in Saigon, Vietnam...Majoring in nursing...Lists Vietnamese, sushi, and Thai as his favorite foods.
