Biography


AS A SENIOR (2015-16)
One of five Sharks to appear in all 27 games, starting 18 of them, and averaging 21.9 points per game… Had the best assist to turnover ratio on the team, at 53-to-19, or 2.8 assists per turnover and was second in assists, with 53, and third in 3-pointers, with 35… Made the first start of his career on Opening Night against St. Thomas (11/16/15), scoring six points with three rebounds, matching a career-high 26 minutes… Set a career high with six rebounds vs. Eastern New Mexico (11/28/15), collecting three points, three assists and a steal… Set career highs with 15 points, five field goals made and five 3-pointers made against Rollins (12/4/15) in a new career-high 27 minutes… Set a career high with five assists vs. Arkansas Tech (12/18/15)… Set a career high with four steals at Palm Beach Atlantic (1/30/16), with five points, three assists and two rebounds in a new career high 32 minutes… Set a career high with 32 minutes against Eckerd (2/20/16), scoring 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 3-of-5 from long range, with two steals and a rebound… Finished the season with a .369 field goal percentage on 45-of-122 shooting, a .357 3-point percentage (35-of-98), and a .625 free throw percentage (5-of-8)… Averaged 4.8 points per game, 2.3 rebounds per game, 2.0 assists per game, 0.8 steals per game and just 0.7 turnovers per game.

AS A JUNIOR (2014-15)
Was a consistent reserve in his first season with the Sharks, averaging 3.6 points over 12.3 minutes per game...Shot 40 percent from the floor and 41 percent from 3-point range...Scored a season-best 11 points against Missouri-St. Louis (12/21/14) on 4-for-5 shooting, including 3-for-3 from deep...Scored 10 points on the road at Palm Beach Atlantic (1/21/15) on 3-for-4 shooting...Scored eight points in his NSU debut against Johnson on homecoming night. 


PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Chalas was a three-year starter for West Broward HS, where he averaged 20 points, four assists and 3.5 steals per game as a senior…He holds several school scoring records and was named All-Broward County as a senior in 2010-11…Chalas signed with Indian River State College after high school…At the junior college, he came off the bench as a freshman to average just under five points a game, then moved into the starting point guard role as a sophomore, averaging 11 points and four assists…Was second-team all-conference at IRSC.
