Biography

SUMMER 2016
Woods played in 49 games for the Willmar Stingers of the Northwoods League over the summer, hitting .270 with four doubles, four homers and a perfect 11-for-11 in stolen base attempts. He also participated in the league's Prospect Showcase on August 9th. During a season-long 10-game hitting streak from July 11th-26th, he hit .368 with a .605 slugging percentage, 10 runs, three home runs and 12 RBI. He set a season-high with four RBI when he hit a three-run homer, his first of the summer, on July 11th to start his streak, then set a new high just three games later, with a grand slam and five RBI on July 14th. His third home run was on July 26th to extend the streak to ten games. He hit all four of his homers in 22 games in the month of July, when he hit .310 with a .344 on-base percentage and a .460 slugging, along with 15 of his 17 RBI on the season and eight of 13 multi-hit games. His fourth home run was on July 30th, as part of his second three-hit game of the season. On August 7th, he had a season-high two walks and two stolen bases, his ninth and tenth of the season. Woods' was one of two players to steal 10 or more bases during the Northwoods regular season without being caught.

AS A JUNIOR (2016)
Played in all but one game for the NCAA Division II National Champion Sharks, starting 58 of 59, of which 51 were at the hot corner… Drove in a career-high five runs, including three on a go-ahead 7th-inning home run in an 11-8 win at Alabama-Huntsville on Feb. 5… Drove in four runs and hit his second home run of the season on Mar. 9 in a 16-1 victory over American International… Had a trio of three-hit games in a five-game span, starting on Apr. 15, when he homered and scored twice, as the Sharks defeated Rollins 11-8… The next two came in back-to-back games against Palm Beach Atlantic on Apr. 19 and Embry-Riddle on Apr. 22, in which he launched his fifth home run and drove in three… Finished the season with a .344 average, at no point letting it drop below .326… Collected 67 total hits, scoring 41 times and driving in 34… Walked 16 times and was hit by 7 pitches, for a .409 on-base percentage, and picked up seven doubles and five home runs, for a slugging percentage of .456… Led the team by successfully laying down nine sacrifice hits, and was safe on all six of his stolen base attempts.


AS A SOPHOMORE (2015)
Played in 50 games for the Sharks, all starts at shortstop…Recorded a career-high three hits in a 14-8 loss to Lynn (3/28)…Hit the first extra-base hit of his collegiate career, a triple, in a 7-6 win against Adelphi (3/14)…Hit the first home run of his collegiate career in a 7-6 victory over Tampa (4/3)…Finished the season with a .256 batting average and .365 on-base percentage…Drew 23 walks and took seven hit by pitches…8-of-9 on stolen bases…Showed great defense at short, leading the team in assists (127).

HIGH SCHOOL
Played baseball for four years, two of them at New Smyrna Beach High School under head coach Nick Regilio…Won the regional championship and advanced to the state final four his junior year.
