SUMMER 2016
Vasquez played in 23 games to help his Chatham Anglers to a playoff berth in college baseball's top summer league, the Cape Cod League, and another five games in the playoffs. He finished the season with 13 RBI, 13 walks and 20 hits – four doubles and a home run. After a slow start, he found his stroke quickly, hitting .273 with a .388 on-base and .382 slugging in the last 17 games of the regular season, along with 10 RBI and 11 walks to 12 strikeouts. He hit his first two extra-base hits of the season, both doubles, in back-to-back games on July 21st and 22nd, then hit his first homer on August 1st, followed by a season-high three hits and his third double the next day. He had back-to-back two hit games in the playoffs, starting on August 7th, with his fourth double in a 3-1 series-clinching win to advance to the second round, and in addition to two RBI in the first game of the second round on August 8th. Vasquez had seven multi-hit games during the summer, four of them in eight games in August, during which time he hit .321/.412/.500 with seven RBI and four walks to four strikeouts.

Appeared in 61 games this season, starting 52 as the Gators’ primary right fielder…Hit .291 (48-165) with 15 RBI and 22 runs scored…11 of his 48 hits went for extra bases, all doubles, giving him a slugging percentage of .358…Walked 22 times to go along with 29 strikeouts for an OBP of .387, which ranked fifth on the team and third among Gator regulars…Went 1-2 on stolen bases this season…Hit .296 (21-71) during SEC play, playing in 24 of 29 games…Maintained an OBP of .393 in SEC play, second among Gator starters behind Peter Alonso…Hit .429 (3-7) in the NCAA Tournament with 1 RBI, 1 BB, and 0 Ks…Only committed 1 error on the season, giving him a fielding percentage of .989…Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
SUMMER 2015: Played for the Kenosha (Wis.) Kingfish of the Northwoods League, which claimed the 2015 NWL Summer Collegiate World Series…Had a .290 average in 39 regular-season games, with 31 RBI, 22 walks, 21 runs, eight doubles and three homers…Hit .353 (6-for-17) as the Kingfish was perfect through the postseason and was 4-for-9 (.444) with four runs in the sweep of the St. Cloud Rox in the finals…Had consecutive three-hit efforts in a road sweep of Battle Creek…Boasted an eight-game hitting streak from July 4-10 in which he was 10-for-33 (.303)…Clubbed a grand slam in a shutout of Lakeshore…Was 3-for-6 in his second game of the summer.

HIGH SCHOOL: First baseman/outfielder from Martin County High School who played for head coach Jerry Smith…Named the 2014 Florida Dairy Farmers Player of the Year for Class 7A and as the Scripps Newspapers Treasure Coast Newspapers All-Area Player of the Year…Batted .524 with a .617 on-base percentage and also led his squad in RBI (37), runs (31), doubles (15) and homers (four)…Owns the highest batting average in school history…Also fired a four-hitter as the Tigers stunned Gulf Coast, 5-1, in the Region 3-7A quarterfinal for the school’s first regional playoff win in eight years…Named first-team all-area all four seasons with the Tigers…Vasquez was a second-team Preseason All-American and was named to the Florida All-Region First Team by Rawlings/Perfect Game prior to his senior year…Ranked No. 27 in the state of Florida and No. 1 among first basemen in the Class of 2014 Final Rankings from Perfect Game…Checked in at No. 114 overall and was the No. 3 first baseman nationally according to Perfect Game…Participated in the 2013 USA U-18 National Team Trials…Chosen as a first-team Preseason Underclassmen All-American by Perfect Game prior to his junior campaign and was a third-team choice before his sophomore season…Hit .490 as a freshman.
