Biography
AS A JUNIOR (2016-2017)
Fall 2016: Finished in the Top-10 in three of the four competitions during the fall...Claimed fourth overall at the GolfRank Invitational and collected a ninth and tenth place finish at the Jacksonville Classic and Ross Resort Invitational.
Spring 2017: Named WGCA Second-Team All-American and First-Team All-Sunshine State Conference…Guided the Sharks to a 2017 SSC Championship with a third place finish individually shooting 71-76-74…Finished in the Top-20 or better in six of the seven competitions…Led the Sharks in defending the team title at PKB while claiming the individual championship…Other top finishes include T13 at the World Gold Invitational (74-77), T17 at the Lady Moc Golf Classic (74-78-75), T14 at the Lady Panther Invitational (79-79-72) and T13 at the Super Regional (78-75-78).
AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-2016)
Fall 2015: Opened the season with a 26th-place showing at the Ross Resorts Inviational…Had her best fall showing at the DII National Preview, 13th in a field of 100 (and third in the region), going 73-75.
Spring 2016: Notched the first top-10 finish of her career at the World Golf Invitational, with rounds of 78 and 76…Started out even-par and wrapped in 15th at the PKB Invitational, for a Shark victory…Was par-par to start and would be 19th at the Barry U Women's Invite…Got another top-10 when she was eighth at the SSC Championship…Slotted 14th at the NCAA National Championship, with rounds of 72-73-74-77…Ended her second season as the No. 35-ranked golfer in all of DII.
AS A FRESHMAN (2014-15)
Fall 2014: Appeared in three of her five events in the fall of her opening campaign…Had her best round to finish out the Guy Harvey Invitational, a 1-under par 71…Best showing came at the Fighting Camel Fall Classic, 31st overall and eighth among region competitors.
Spring 2015: Was 44th at the World Golf Invitational, with a spring best round of 77.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played golf, volleyball and danced at Streetsville Secondary…Twice was named Mens'/Womens' Golf MVP…Won two Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour titles in the fall of 2013, at the Caledon Country Club in August (76-79-155) and the Mystic Golf Club in September, which included a round of 75…Was second at a Future Collegians World Tour event at Heron Bay in February, shooting a 150 (74-76).
PERSONAL
Born in Toronto…Plans to major in psychology…Most memorable athletic achievement was winning regionals and placing fifth in provincials in her 2011-12 season…Her father is for sure the most influential person in her life because he got her started with golf, and she owes it to him for pushing her to practice more and more. If it wasn't for him, she wouldn't even be in this position, and he's always pushed her to be better in her golf and as a person…Favorite food is empanadas…Loves Disney movies…Johnny Depp is her favorite actor, and Jordan Speith is her favorite pro athlete…Cuba is her favorite vacation spot…Daughter of Francisco and Sonia Ruiz, and has a younger brother, Matthew.
