Biography

AS A SENIOR (2019)
Finished with a 1-1 record for the Sharks in 12 pitching appearances, including his first career start against Southern New Hampshire (3/13)…Registered seven strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched…His longest and most stat-filled appearance was the start against SNHU, recording two strikeouts, no walks and just one earned run across 4.0 innings…Earned a spot on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll along with D2 Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

AS A JUNIOR (2018)
Maya had a sharp season for the Sharks posting a 2.25 ERA in 17 relief appearances…Began the season with a dominant 17 straight shutout innings…Finished the year with the third most appearances and the lowest ERA out of the bullpen… Notched lone save of the season at Saint Leo, firing three scoreless innings with a career high five strikeouts (4/6)…Posted a sparking outing with five shutout innings and no hits allowed at North Alabama (2/9)…Compiled a 2-2 record, picking up wins against Eckerd (4/20) and Montevallo (5/18)...In 36.0 innings pitched, recorded 32 strikeouts, only giving up nine runs while stifling opponents to a .188 batting average.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2017)
Made eight appearances in relief for the Sharks…Recorded a 2-0 record through 12.0 innings pitched... Tallied six strikeouts…Notched his first win of the season with 2.0 innings and one strikeout against St. Thomas (2/7)…Picked up his second win a week later after collecting a season-high three strikeouts in a season-high 3.0 innings against PBA (2/14).

AS A FRESHMAN (2016)
Did not see action during his first season for the NCAA Division II National Champion Sharks.

SUMMER 2015
Played with the South Florida Elite Squad since 2014, as a right fielder on the 16u Slugger team under coaches Richie Palmer and the late Sergio Ambros, and as a pitcher on the 17u Slugger team under coach Jorge Miranda… Compiled a 0.98 ERA and averaged a strikeout per inning.

HIGH SCHOOL
Played for 2013 HSBN District Coach of the Year Phillip Wisser at Coral Gables Senior HS in Coral Gables, Fla., alongside his older brother, Dillon, a fellow member of the 2015 recruiting class, as well as current Sharks teammate Antonio Rodriguez, in his freshman year… Underclass Honorable Mention by Perfect Game in 2013 and 2014 and a Florida All-Region Honorable Mention in 2015… Like his brother, established himself as a two-way player… Hit two home runs, took eight hit by pitches and stole three bases between 2014 and 2015… Pitched in six games in 2015, with 15 strikeouts and a 3.78 ERA in 16.2 innings pitched.
