Biography

AS A SENIOR (2020)
Started in all 22 games at shortstop before the season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic...Led the team and ranked 10th in the Sunshine State Conference with a .369 average, tying for the most hits on the team (31) and ranking 49th in the NCAA, including five doubles and a triple...Tied for the most stolen bases on the squad with an NCAA 37th-best 10-of-14 success rate...Held an NSU fourth-most 10 RBI in the shortened season and tied for the fifth-most runs with 14...His three sacrifice flies paced the Sharks, tied for second in the Sunshine State Conference and ranked 24th in the NCAA...Was a perfect 4-for-4 at West Florida (3/3) and was 6-for-8 in the two-game series, with three total runs and an RBI...Scored a career-best three times against No. 16 Newberry (2/14), going 1-for-2 with two walks...Logged a career-best eight assists in the 14-inning marathon at Palm Beach Atlantic (2/18), adding a pair of putouts as well...Received the baseball team's Unsung Hero Award during the annual Sharky's Awards Show in April.

AS A JUNIOR (2019)
Played in 47 games with 43 starts for the Sharks at shortstop…Batted .232 with a .398 slugging percentage and registered 36 hits, including six home runs, five doubles and one triple…Scored 30 runs and drove in 23 more, ranking seventh on the team in both stats…Tied for third on the team with 11 steals in 13 attempts…Recorded 11 multi-hit games, highlighted by a 3-for-4 hitting performance with two runs against Florida Tech (3/16)…Logged six multi-RBI games, his best of the year coming at Lynn (4/12) with three RBI and two runs on a 2-for-5 batting performance…Collected a season-high two stolen bases during the second game of the series at Tampa (3/2).

PREVIOUS SCHOOL
Played two seasons at the University of Tennessee (2017-18)…Appeared in 43 games (34 starts) as a sophomore for the Volunteers in 2018, collecting 19 hits with eight RBI, five doubles and two home runs while scoring 14 runs on the year…Started 27 games at third base, six games at second and one at shortstop in 2018…Finished the season with a 2-for-4 effort that included a double and run scored at Missouri (5/19)…Went 2-for-3 and hit a solo home run in Game 2 at Missouri to give UT a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning and even the series at one win apiece in the final weekend of the regular season (5/18)…Recorded doubles in back-to-back games vs. Vanderbilt (5/12-5/13)…Propelled Tennessee to a 5-3 victory and series win over No. 13 Kentucky when he blasted a 1-1 pitch over the left field wall for the first home run of his career (5/6)…Scored a run in the series finale vs. Texas A&M to help the Vols secure the series win (4/22)…Batted .400 (2-for-5) and scored two runs in the Florida series (4/7-4/8)…Scored the tying run that sent Game two to extra innings against eventual national champion, top-ranked Florida, after reaching base on a single (4/8)…Stole two bases and had a hit and RBI vs. Western Carolina (3/14)…His first hit of the season, an RBI double, came against Arkansas Pine Bluff on Feb. 28 and helped Tennessee to a 9-1 win in the midweek matchup…Earned his first start of the year at second base in the season opener vs. Maryland (2/16)…Appeared in 20 games, including four starts, for the Volunteers as a freshman, collecting two hits with three RBI while scoring four runs on the year.

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Florida Christian School, playing under Chris Brigman…Led FCS to two District Championships (2014, 2016) and a 20-8 record in both seasons…Named to the All-District Team at shortstop…As a junior, he hit .400, collected 14 RBI and stole eight bases…Named to the Florida All-Region Second Team by Perfect Game over five times…Named Rawlings-Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American in 2016…Ranked as the No. 14 shortstop and No. 85 overall player in the state of Florida…He was also tabbed the No. 82 shortstop and 484th overall player in the USA by Perfect Game in 2016.

Born in Miami, Fla.…Son of Carlos and Maria Chinea…Has two siblings, Christopher and Daniel…Brother Chris Chinea was an All-American catcher for LSU and was drafted by St. Louis in the 17th round of the 2015 MLB Draft, earning 2018 Texas League Player of the Year and working his way up to AAA Memphis Redbirds in 2019…Notes hitting a game-winning home run against Kentucky in 2018 to secure the series as his most memorable athletic achievement… Lists his older brother Chris as his role model for advice both in baseball and in life…Majoring in General Studies...Holds the record in Cooperstown for “youngest player to get a hit” at 6 years, 9 months and 6 days old in the 10u division - playing for the Tamiami Youth Stars in 2004...Was part of the Tamiami team that won the 2008 PONY Mustang World Series in Irving, Texas.
