Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2017)
Made 23 relief appearances for the Sharks...Tallied a season-high four strikeouts in a season-high four innings pitched against North Georgia (2/11)…Picked up his lone win of the season after tossing 1.1 crucial innings in a 3-1 win over Tampa in the NCAA South Region Tournament…Recorded eight appearances with two or more strikeouts and six games with 2.0 or more innings pitched…Finished the season with a 1-1 record and a 3.74 ERA over 33.2 innings pitched.

SUMMER 2016
As the only Shark playing on foreign soil this summer, 40 miles north of the Canadian-American border, with the Northwoods League's Thunder Bay BorderCats, Churchill made eight starts and three relief appearances, compiling a record of 4-5 to lead the team in wins. Of his eleven appearances, Churchill held his opponent scoreless in four of them, including on June 26th, when he came within two outs of a 7-inning perfect game, before completing the nine-strikeout complete game shutout. He followed that with seven strikeouts and just three hits allowed in 5.2 scoreless innings on July 2nd and ended the season with another seven shutout innings, this time in relief, with six strikeouts and three hits allowed on August 13th. In his 48.1 innings, he struck out 37 batters and allowed only one home run and ended the season with a 5.36 ERA, holding opponents to hit .274/.336/.374 against him.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2016)
Made 15 appearances out of the bullpen for the NCAA Division II National Champion Sharks, 10 of which were NSU victories… Had a record of 3-0, the first two wins coming on back-to-back days at Alabama-Huntsville… In the first game of a double-header on Feb. 5, tosses a scoreless inning in an 11-8 Sharks victory to earn his first win of the season, and a season-high four scoreless in the first game of a 7-4 double-header win on Feb. 6, allowing just two hits and striking out two batters… Held his opponent scoreless in eight outings… Struck out a season-high four batters in three innings for his third victory of the year, a 10-5 score over previously-undefeated No. 6 Southern New Hampshire (3/15), which began the Sharks’ 33-6 stretch en route to the first National Championship in program history… Finished the season with a 6.14 ERA in 22 innings of work, with 27 hits allowed and 17 strikeouts to nine walks.

AS A FRESHMAN (2015)
Named to the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll…In the third start of his collegiate career, pitched the first seven innings of NSU’s 9-0 combined no-hitter win over Felician (3/3), the program’s first nine-inning no-hitter since 2007, to earn his first college victory…Achieved season highs in innings and strikeouts (6) in that game…Made four starts total, as the mid-week starter for the first half of the season, and pitched twice out of the bullpen…Ended the season with a 1-0 record and 14 strikeouts to six walks in 16.1 innings.

Played baseball for four years at East Lake High School under head coach Dan Genna…State runner-up his senior year…Named to the Pinellas County all-star team…Utility player of the year.
