Jason Palmateer

Jason Palmateer joined Nova Southeastern as an athletic trainer in Sept. of 2003 and was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in 2006. Jason is responsible for the health care of the NSU men’s and women’s golf teams as well as the baseball team. Additionally, Jason also oversees the maintenance and inventory for the two athletic training facilities.
 
Prior to joining the sports medicine team, Jason served as a certified athletic trainer for the Lansing Lugnuts, a minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. While with the Lugnuts, Palmateer worked in injury care, daily treatments, running the strength and conditioning programs, while working one-on-one with the team physicians.
 
Prior to working with the Lugnuts, Palmateer served as a certified athletic trainer for the Utica Blue Sox, a minor league affiliate of the Florida Marlins, from October 2000 through February 2002. During his time with the Blue Sox, Palmateer worked in the areas of injury evaluation, injury care and rehabilitation. Palmateer also helped to supervise and conduct rehabilitation throwing programs.
 
In addition, Palmateer worked as a certified athletic trainer for the sports-outreach program run by Holy Cross Hospital for local high schools of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In May of 1999, Palmateer was an intern in the PBATS Internship Program with the Florida Marlins.
 
Palmateer worked with former NSU Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Larry Starr and Kevin Rand in the daily duties with athletic training room setup, rehabilitation, pre-game warm-ups and post-game treatments.
 
Palmateer also served as a senior clinical intern with HEALTHSHOUTH, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center from August to December of 1998. During his stay, Palmateer developed rehabilitation progressions and worked one-on-one with patients.
 
Palmateer received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science and Wellness Education from Florida Atlantic University in 1998 and received his Associate of Arts degree from Santa Fe Community College in 1995. Palmateer also attended the University of Florida's Exercise Science and Wellness Education in 1995. A lifelong South Florida native Palmateer enjoys golf and tennis and currently resides in Lighthouse Point.
