Biography

AS A FRESHMAN (2016)
Started 19 of the 28 games he played in during his freshman year, 17 in right field and two in center, of which the team won 15 games... Finished with a .246 average (16-65), .311 on-base percentage and .369 slugging... Both scored and drove in 12 runs... Stole five bases in seven attempts and collected five extra-base hits -- three doubles, one triple and one home run... Hit the first home run of his collegiate career on March 25, 2016, a grand slam against Saint Leo... Had a season-high three hits, the first three of his career, in five at bats, with a stolen base, three runs scored and his first career double, in the first start of his career on March 4, 2016 against Eckerd... Had the first of two four-RBI games in the back-end of a doubleheader against Lynn on March 12, 2016, including a bases-loaded triple.

SUMMER BALL
Played for the Fort Lauderdale Hooks, where he was coached by NSU Baseball alum Joe Giumulle and played with Anthony DiFede, fellow member of the 2015 recruiting class.

PREVIOUS SCHOOL
Red-shirted a year on the Appalachian State Mountaineers football team in Boone, N.C.

HIGH SCHOOL
Attended American Heritage in Plantation, Fla., where he played six years for the Patriots of both baseball and football… Was coached in baseball by former Major Leaguer Bruce Aven and in football by former National Football League players Byron Walker, Jeff Dellenbach, a Super Bowl XXXI champion with the Green Bay Packers, and Mike Rumph, a NCAA BCS National Champion with the 2001 Miami Hurricanes… 249 receiving yards and three touchdowns for the football team in his senior year, en route to Class 5A state championship… Miami Herald All-County Second Team outfielder in 2013 and Honorable Mention in 2011 and 2014 by the Herald and Sun-Sentinel… Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention in both 2012 and 2013, and a Florida All-Region Honorable Mention in 2014… Hit .315 with a .400 on-base percentage as a junior in 2013, collecting career highs in hits (23), runs (19), doubles (7), and stolen bases (10)… Career .290 hitter, with a .415 on-base, 18 doubles, 36 walks, and 21 stolen bases.

PERSONAL
Born in Miami, Fla.… Finance major… Son on Mario and Yoly Perez… Has two younger brothers, Kyle and Pinder, and a younger sister, Kelsey… Father, Mario, is an assistant football coach at American Heritage, and brothers, Kyle and Pinder, were teammates on the Patriots along with Jacob Pino, the younger brother of Sharks infielder Julian Pino, and current teammate Danny Zardon… Kyle was also a teammate on the Appalachian State Mountaineers team… Most memorable athletic achievement is winning the state championship in high school… The baseball team is what he likes most about NSU… The most influential person in his life is his dad for teaching him everything he knows… Favorite food is steak…Favorite movie is American Sniper… Favorite TV show is SportsCenter… Favorite actor is Denzel Washington… Favorite pro athlete is Mike Trout… Favorite vacation spot is Hawaii… Favorite pro team is the New York Yankees… Favorite hobby is baseball.
