Nova Southeastern’s lead assistant coach Jordan Fee enters his seventh year and sixth season as a member of the men’s basketball staff in 2021-22.
Fee was originally hired by former NSU head coach Gary Tuell on June 2, 2015, and was later retained by current head coach Jim Crutchfield, for whom Fee played under at West Liberty University from 2010-12.
During his tenure, Fee has established himself as one of the premier assistant coaches at the Division II level, and has shown an innate ability to recruit both locally and throughout the northeast. In a short span covering 2018-20, Fee has coached the Sharks to a pair of NCAA Tournaments, an NCAA South Region Championship and a Sunshine State Conference Regular Season Championship. With his assistance, NSU has also earned five All-America honors and has seen five players go on to sign professional contracts.
In 2019-20, Fee and company ranked among the nation’s Top-25 for the duration of the season, even rising all the way to No. 1 in the polls for the first time in program history on Dec. 10, 2019. The Sharks eventually racked up 23 wins, advancing to both the SSC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season.
The 2018-19 campaign was one Fee won't soon forget, as NSU was thrust into the national spotlight following a historic season in which the Sharks captured the program's first-ever NCAA South Region Championship en route to the Elite Eight. Prior to the season, NSU had never even reached the NCAA Tournament, let alone gone on to win three games to advance all the way to Evansville, Ind. In the process, the Sharks rattled off a program-record 29 victories, earned the program's first-ever Sunshine State Conference regular season title, while climbing as high as No. 3 in the national polls.
Fee was reunited with his very own former head coach upon the start of the 2017-18 season. Working alongside Crutchfield, the NSU program began a new era that fall, one that has since changed the outlook on the entire program. Following a forgetful 6-20 mark in 2016-17, Fee helped reinvigorate the culture of the team, leading to a remarkable 11-win turnaround while the Sharks crashed the nation’s Top-25 for the first time ever on Dec. 5, 2017.
Despite the head coaching transition, Fee’s recruiting efforts still allowed for NSU to land standout guard Malik Hardy, who became the school’s first SSC Freshman of the Year since back in 2010.
Fee is a coach's son, having played for his legendary father, Don, whose Grove City High School teams won over 400 games and dominated Western Pennsylvania basketball for years. Fee scored over 1,200 points in his Grove City career and led his team to the Pennsylvania Final Four as a junior. A four-year starter at point guard, Fee averaged over seven assists per game during his career. He was both District and Regional Player of the Year as a junior and a senior before enrolling in the U.S. Air Force Academy Prep School. Fee was the starting point guard for the 19-6 prep school team in 2007-08, where he excelled in the academy's Princeton style offense.
After his year at the Air Force Academy Prep School Fee played two seasons at NCAA Division I University of Detroit-Mercy for head coach Ray McCallum. Fee appeared in 35 games in two seasons with the Titans, both as a starter and a reserve. Fee was named to the UDM Athletic Director's Honor Roll and also the Horizon League's Academic Honor Roll.
Fee transferred to NCAA Division II national powerhouse West Liberty University for his final two seasons. Despite an injury-plagued career with West Liberty, Jordan played an instrumental part in helping his teams capture two conference and regional championships. As a junior, Fee helped West Liberty reel off 33 consecutive victories to start the 2010-11 season before falling 110-101 to BYU-Hawaii in the NCAA DII National Semifinals and finishing 33-1. As a senior in 2011-12, Fee helped the Hilltoppers to a 32-3 record and a return to the NCAA DII Elite Eight, where West Liberty lost in the quarterfinal round 91-90 to Stonehill College.
Following graduation, Fee spent one season as a volunteer assistant at West Liberty, helping the 2012-13 squad to a 34-2 record, including a trip to the Final Four. Fee was mentored by Crutchfield, whose 11 Hilltopper teams had an astounding .849 winning percentage (300-53), and regularly averaged 100 points or more a game. In Fee's two playing seasons at West Liberty, the Hilltoppers were a remarkable 65-4. Tack on his one season as an assistant there, and the West Liberty win-loss record during Coach Fee's tenure at the West Virginia school was an astounding 99-6.
After leaving West Liberty, Fee spent one season as a graduate assistant coach at Clarion (Pa.) University before rejoining McCallum for two seasons in Detroit.
Fee earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education and Health Education in 2013 from West Liberty and his Master's Degree in Leadership from Detroit-Mercy in 2015.
