Biography

AS A JUNIOR (2016-17)
Only Shark to play in all 26 games throughout the season, making 25 starts…Ranked third on the team in minutes played with an average of 30.3 minutes per contest…Played in all 40 minutes in a home win over Rollins (11/11)...Scored in double-figures in 15 contests, tallying a career-high 24 points against Florida Southern (11/7)…Ended the season with 193 total points, averaging 11.3 points per game - fourth-best on the team…Finished with a 41.2% shooting percentage…Second on the team in three-point makes with 49, only one shy of team-leader Dwayne Gibson.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2015-16)
One of five Sharks to appear in all 27 games, starting 25, and averaging 25.1 minutes per game, third on the team... Shot a team-high .419 on 3-pointers... Third on the team with 208 points, 7.7 points per game, 73 field goals made, 2.7 field goals made per game, 52 assists and 1.9 assists per game... Second on the team with 36 3-point field goals made, 1.3 3-pointers per game, 26 steals and 1.0 steals per game… Had nine double-digit scoring outputs and two games of 20 points or more… First career 20-point game came at Barry (1/13/16), when he made a career-high 8-of-11 field goal attempts and all three of his 3-point attempts for 20 points, while collecting three assists, three rebounds and two steals… Second was just five days later, at Florida Tech (1/18/16), when he hit on all six of his 3-point attempts in the first half for 18 of his career-high 23 points, finishing with four assists and career highs with six rebounds and 7 3-pointers made, the most by any Shark all season, in a career-high 36 minutes…  Set a career high with five assists and matched another one with four free throws made against Palm Beach Atlantic (12/2/15), when he scored 14 points on four field goals, two from 3-point range, and had a rebound, a block and a steal… Set career highs with three steals and two blocks against Eastern (12/16/15), to go with 14 points, four 3-pointers made, five rebounds an/d three assists… Matched career highs with three steals and four free throws made against Embry-Riddle (1/2/16), scoring 11 points with three assists… Matched his career high of five assists against Barry (2/13/16), part of a 105-91 upset of No. 12 Barry, with three of the assists going to Chris Page for seven of his program-record 41 points… Led the team in steals in five games, assists in four, and points and blocks in two each… Finished the season with a .456 field goal percentage (73-of-160) and .619 free throw percentage (26-of-42).

AS A FRESHMAN (2014-15)
Played in all 28 games, averaging 14.8 minutes per game...Scored 4.2 points per game and shot 45.3 percent from the floor...Shot 40.5 percent from 3-point range and 77.4 percent from the foul line...In his first career start against Embry-Riddle (11/25/14), he scored 16 points on 5-for-7 shooting...Scored 11 points against Seton Hill (11/29/14) and Eckerd (1/3/15)...Had a season-best five rebounds at home against No. 6 Barry (2/14/15).

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Spears began his prep career at Park Tudor HS in Indianapolis…As a freshman he came off the bench to help Park Tudor capture Indiana's 2A State Championship, averaging seven points and three rebounds….Park Tudor captured a second straight state title in Troy's sophomore year when he was a starting guard who averaged 8.7 points and 4.4 rebounds…Spears then transferred to his hometown high school, Martinsville, for his junior and senior years…As a junior he averaged 18 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists, making 50 percent of his field goals, 37 percent of his threes and 84 percent of his free throws, once draining nine 3's in a single game…As a senior Spears led Martinsville to a Sectional championship game while averaging 23 points, 5 rebounds and shooting over 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3…He was named to both the North-South All-Star game and the Hoosier Reunion All-Star Classic, earning All-Conference honors two successive years and mention on several Indiana All-State teams…Spears was considered among the top-25 players in Indiana from his junior year on…Best of the Midwest scouting service ranked Spears as the 11th best player in Indiana in 2013-14.
