Kevin Marsh enters his seventh season as the head coach of the Nova Southeastern's men's and women's golf teams. Under Marsh's tutelage, the Sharks have achieved unprecedented success. In 2009, the golf programs achievements were capped off by winning the school’s first ever NCAA Women's Golf National Championship. In 2010, the Women’s team repeated as back to back NCAA National Champions. Additionally the two programs combined have won three men's Sunshine State Conference Championships and two women's conference titles.
In his previous six seasons at the helm of both programs Marsh has coached four NGCA National Players of the Year, three NGCA National Freshmen on the Year, six male GCAA All-Americans, twelve female NGCA All-Americans, three SSC Women Freshmen of the Year, three SSC Female Players of the Year, two SSC male Freshmen of the Year and one Sunshine State Conference Male Players of the Year.
The 2009-2010 season will go down as one of the best seasons in the history of the programs. The women’s team dominated the entire year holding a #1 NCAA National ranking all 52 weeks, winning nine of eleven tournaments and repeating as NCAA National Champions. Sandra Changkija led the Women’s team winning seven individual titles, winning her third straight NGCA National Player of the Year and finishing ranked #4 in the Golfstat Cup standings. Marsh was named the NGCA Coach of the Year for the second time, NCAA South Region Coach of the Year for the third time and Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year which was his fifth time winning the honor. On the Men’s side the year was highlighted with a trip to the NCAA National Championship where the Men led after the first round and ended up finishing sixth for the tournament.
In 2008-09, both the men's and women's golf teams enjoyed their best years in school history. The women's golf team held a number one national ranking from the beginning to the end of the season highlighted in the program's and NSU's first-ever NCAA National Championship. Along the way the women won a school record seven tournaments along with the NCAA South Region for the second year in a row. For his efforts Marsh was named SSC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year, NCAA South Region Coach of the Year and NCAA National Coach of the Year. Sandra Changkija was named NGCA National Player of the Year for the second consecutive year. On the men's side the men won a program record four tournaments highlighted by winning their third Sunshine State Conference Championship in five years. Greg O'Mahony was honored the SSC Player of the Year while Ben Vertz earned SSC Freshman of the Year honors.
During the 2007-08 season Marsh guided both programs to the NCAA tournament for the third consecutive year. Each program reached unprecedented levels of success by advancing through the Regional Tournament to play in the National Championships for the first time in the programs history. The women's team captured their first SSC and NCAA South Region Championships concluding play with a runner-up finish in the national championship tournament while the men finished fifth. The women's team became only the second team in the history of NSU, men's golf being first, to hold a number one national ranking. Sandra Changkija earned NGCA National Freshman and Player of the Year honors following in the footsteps on Maria Garcia-Austt, who received her second NGCA All-America selection. Greg O'Mahony and Constantin Schwierz earned GCAA All-America recognition for the men. Marsh was named both the SSC Women's Coach of the Year and the NCAA South Region Coach of the Year.
In 2006-07, March continued his success, bringing home his second SSC Men's Golf Championship in three years. Marsh was named the Sunshine State Conference Men's Golf Coach of the Year for his efforts. The men's team reached new heights becoming the first NSU program to achieve a number one overall national ranking. Freshman Eric Cole was named SSC Freshman of the Year under Marsh. He also directed the women's team to its fifth consecutive post-season appearance and mentored freshman Maria Garcia-Austt on her way to SSC Player/Freshman of the Year honors.
In 2005-06, Marsh continued to build on the success that the women's program has enjoyed since its inception. The Sharks remained in the GolfStat Top-10 throughout the 2005-06 campaign and finished the year ranked fifth in NCAA Division II. In nine events, the Sharks enjoyed seven top five finishes. In the spring of 2005, Marsh's first year, the NSU men's program won the first Sunshine State Conference championship in the history of Nova Southeastern University in addition to earning the team's first-ever selection to the NCAA Division II Super Regional.
Marsh came to NSU after serving five years at the Academy of Golf at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens , Florida where he was a golf instructor from 1999 to 2003 and Golf Digest golf instructor from 2003 to 2004. During his time at PGA National, Marsh was the lead golf instructor for numerous golf schools, corporate clinics and member clinics. In addition, Marsh was also the director of junior instruction at PGA National, starting high school training and an elite junior program, which produced top-ranked juniors and college scholarship recipients. He also has coached and taught professional players on the Nationwide, Golden Bear and Futures Tours.
Marsh is an active member of both the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) and the Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) where he was elected as the Women’s DII representative and is a member of the NCAA South Region ranking committee for the GCAA.
Marsh resides in Jupiter, Fla. with his wife Ashleigh and daughter, Mackenzie. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College ), where he was a four-year starter on the men's golf team and a two-time NCAA National Championship participant.
