AS A FRESHMAN (2018-19)
Earned the title of Sunshine State Conference Male Freshman Swimmer of the Year as well as a spot on the All-SSC Second Team… was an honorable mention All-American in the 400 IM with a personal-best time of 3:53.59, finishing 11th… finished fourth at the 2019 SSC Championships in the 400 IM with a B-cut time of 3:53.87… earned three first-place finishes in the 200 back, 200 IM and 400 IM at the 2018 Shark Invitational… grabbed 10 first-place finishes over the course of the year and posted three NCAA B-cut times… was named to the 2019 SSC Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll and CSCAA Scholar All-American Team.

HIGH SCHOOL
Competed for Liceo Scientifico Valeriani for five years… won the Rotary sport award four consecutive times for swimming and studying at high level… swam for the Imolanuoto club team and finished as the second team in Italy in 2018 during the championships and earned the Coni bronze medal in 2017… earned third place at the Italian junior nationals in the 200 IM and second in the 400 free relay… grabbed second place at the Italian Nationals Championship for clubs.
 
PERSONAL
Son of Luigi Xella and Patrizia Fregugia… studying mathematics… says his brother Nicola is the most influential person in his life because he experienced college swimming from 2005-09 and he inspired him to think that anything is possible.
