Biography

AS A SENIOR (2016)
Competed in the 800m and 1500m for the sharks…Claimed gold in the 800m at the Peach Belt Conference Championship with 1:54.19...Set a seasons-best in the 1500m at the UCF Invitational with 4:13.69.

AS A JUNIOR (2015)
Battled injury but still competed in three events as a newcomer...Placed 14th in the 5K at 15:58.68 and 18th in the 1,500m run at 4:06.77 at the Peach Belt Conference Championship...Won the 800m run at the Multicultural Games with a time of 1:53.45...Posted a career-best time in the 1,500m run at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational at 4:00.40, taking fourth overall. 

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
Transferred from Pima Community College where he ran under head coach Greg Wenneborg…Was the NJCAA Region Champion in 2011 and 2012…Ran a 5K best time of 14:58 and a 8K best time of 26:01…Previously ran cross country and track and field at Flowing Wells HS under head coach Robert Herrick…Was a two-time state champion in the 4x800-meter relay.

Majoring in sports and exercise science…Names David M. Scott as his favorite athlete and Archer as his favorite television show…Enjoys backpacking, being outdoors and practicing primitive survival skills in his free time…Son of Anthony and Frances Ruiz.
