AS A JUNIOR (2019)
Made 34 starts in 37 games appeared… fifth on the team in batting average hitting .247 with 24 hits in 97 at-bats… notched five doubles and plated 12 RBI… hit by 12 pitches, scored eight runs and was issued eight walks… recorded a five-game hitting streak, with nine hits in five games (Feb. 16 - Feb. 25)… had a season-high four hit game against Albany State (Mar. 5)… drove in two runs at Barry (Mar. 10)… had a sparkling .987 fielding percentage, only committing one error in 68 putouts.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
The third junior-transfer from Highland CC, Hernandez also brings strength to the 2019 Sharks softball roster. As a freshman in 2017, she led the KJCCC in homeruns with 15 and was second in the conference with 63 RBI, while posting a .384 batting average. In 2018, she once again finished atop the KJCCC in homeruns (10), RBI (37), total bases (68) and slugging percentage (1.046). She also finished 12th in the nation in homers (15) and 16th in RBI (63). In her 128 at bats, she had a .477 batting average and scored 51 runs on the season. From her outstanding two seasons, she was named to the 2017 All-KJCCC Honorable Mention Team and 2018 All-KJCCC First Team and All-Region, District D First Teams. In 2018, she earned a spot on the Fastpitch News Division II All-American Honorable Mention Team and NJCAA All-American Second Team. She also was named to the 2018 NJCAA All-Academic All-American Team.

PERSONAL
Born in Overland Park, Kan…. majoring in criminal justice with a minor in Spanish… daughter of John and Hazel Hernandez and has one sibling, Shelby… says her most influential person in her life is her mother because she made her be such an independent and strong/kind person and her father too, who has kept her to have an open mind about everything and to reach for her dreams.
