Kathrine Higier, who was a volunteer assistant last season, continues her coaching career with NSU as the new women’s basketball interim assistant coach as of October 2010. 

Higier’s primary responsibilities will be to aid in the recruiting process of prospective student-athletes as well as manage academic progress of the team. She takes pride in her ability to research and develop drills to enhance her athletes skill and performance levels. As a new coach she strives to be a great role model and always uphold a positive attitude in effort to lead her team in achieving program goals.  

She was a four year starter and leading scorer on the NCAA Division III nationally ranked New York University women’s basketball team. As a sophomore, her team was ranked number one in the 2004 pre-season poll. That year she received a University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week award and led her team to a conference championship. Setting her career high of 30 points scored at the conference tournament, she allowed her team to advance to the NCAA Sweet 16 tournament with a record of 23-4. She served as captain her senior season and finished her collegiate career averaging 9.2 points per game and as a First-Team All-Conference honoree. 

She has experience in personal training where she utilized her ability to motivate her clients to achieve maximum potential. She has aided in the development and execution of basketball camps for multiple universities and will be a large contributor to the growth of NSUs women’s basketball program camps. 

She graduated from New York University in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Communication Studies. She was a member of the Dean’s List with a cumulative GPA of a 3.5 and was honored with the Presidents Academic Achievement Award.
