Biography

AS A TRACK AND FIELD FRESHMAN (2020)
Competed in two meets for the Sharks before cancellations stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic cut her rookie season short…Ran a personal-best 5000m time of 19:43.80 at the UT Track Classic (2/28)…Opened the season with first-time collegiate race of 5:14.27 in the 1500m to finish sixth at the NSU Invitational (2/22), also aiding her 4x400m relay crew to a second-place 4:26.41 at the opener with the third leg on the relay.

AS A CROSS COUNTRY FRESHMAN (2019)
As a freshman, she competed in six meets for the Sharks, finishing among the scoring pack in four outings…Produced her highest finish at the flrunners.com Invitational (9/27) in 15th place at 20:56.70 in the 5k…Recorded a 5k season best of 20:51.10 at the FSU Invitational (10/11) and a 25:12.2 in the 6k at the NCAA DII South Region Championships (11/9) in Lakeland, Fla…Named a 2019 NCAA Division II Cross Country All-Academic Athlete by the USTFCCCA and to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL
Graduated from Western High School in Davie, Florida…Ran cross country and competed in track and field for the Wildcats…During her senior campaign, she produced a 3200m time of 12:16.51 at the FHSAA 4A Region 4 meet and a 20:49.93 in the 5k at the BCAA Cross Country Championships – went on to win her second consecutive FHSAA 4A District 14 title at Markham Park in Sunrise…Also earned FHSAA 4A District 14 Championships on the track in the 1600m and 3200m in 2017…Ran her top 5k time of 20:13.08 during the 2017 FHSAA Cross Country State Finals, setting a school record…Produced a prep-best 12:15.56 in the 3200m during the 2017 BCAA Championships…Was named Team MVP during her final season of prep cross country…Received the Silver Service Hours cord, Gold GPA cord and Straight A’s All Year diploma from Western.

PERSONAL
Came to NSU from nearby Davie, but lived in Perth, Australia for five years – where she started running for the Little Athletics organization…Before living down under, her family lived in Columbia until she was 10…Daughter of Andres and Claudia…Majoring in Human Nutrition and with a minor in Pre-Health – aspires to be a dietitian and have her own business of healthy foods…Lists going to States during her junior year of high school as her most memorable athletic achievement, seeing as she was the only girl who made it that far into the season…Prays before every race…Volunteered for Latinos in Action at local South Florida schools, as well as Western Gifted Camp, Broward Outreach Center and Western Summer Clean-up…Looks forward to pursuing her education in the medical field at NSU…Lists her parents as the most influential people in her life - in particular her dad because of the hard work he put in towards supporting his family…Also notes her high school coach, Mike Korir, as a big running inspiration in her life.
