Nova Southeastern women's rowing head coach Devin Fay announced on August 7, 2019 the addition of Shannon Perry as the second assistant coach for the Sharks program heading into the 2019-20 season.

"I'm really excited to join this program being fresh from graduating from UCF. I hope to use my experience I have gained these past four years to see what kind of speed I can bring to this team," Perry said at the time of her hiring. "I can't wait to meet the team to begin learning what I can add to the dynamic and help them succeed this season."

Perry comes to NSU following a four-year rowing career as a student-athlete at the University of Central Florida. Perry initially walked-on with the UCF rowing squad as an out-of-sport novice in 2015 and proceeded to row for four years for the Knights, helping her team win four of now five consecutive American Athletic Conference championship titles. During those four years, Perry also helped UCF earn four NCAA appearances, with top-18 and top-20 finishes – the best in UCF Rowing history. A UCF Athletic Director honor roll student the majority of her career, Perry was recognized as a 2018-19 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Scholar Athlete. She graduated from UCF in 2019 with a degree in Sports and Exercise Science, with her sights set on pursuing a master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Prior to UCF, Perry was a member of the track and field and weight lifting teams at Paul J. Hagerty High School, an Honors graduate and a member of the National Honor Society.

"I am very excited to bring Shannon down to be a part of the Sharks family," Fay noted of his new assistant. "She has a no-nonsense attitude and is ready to work hard for the squad. We are lucky to have someone of her quality join our team."
