Maria Mora enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Nova Southeastern women's soccer team in 2019.
“I’m very excited to be part of a great program such as NSU," she said. "I look forward to the opportunity of bringing my skill set to support and further grow the program.”
Mora brings an abundance of coaching experience to the program, which includes time at the youth, high school and collegiate levels. She has coached at Gulliver Prep and Westminster Christian School, and is also involved with youth soccer, currently coaching at Pinecrest Premier Soccer Club, where she has also served as the Youth Director.
Most recently, Mora worked as the assistant/goalkeeper coach for FC Surge out of the WPSL. Under her guidance, the club allowed only one goal throughout the regular season, advancing to the south region playoffs before losing 3-1 to the eventual WPSL national champions.
She comes to Nova Southeastern following two seasons as the head coach at Florida Memorial in 2016 and 2017. Mora also spent time as an assistant/goalkeeper coach at Johnson & Wales under the leadership of 2014 Sun Conference Coach of the Year, Eric Dobrzanski. During her stint at JWU, Mora helped lead the Wildcats to their very first conference tournament appearance with a major upset, beating Thomas (Ga.) in the quarterfinal.
A Miami native, Mora played for St. Thomas University and graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and a Certificate in Homeland Security.
She holds a USSF National C Coaching License.
