Nova Southeastern University head coach John Constable officially announced Matt Carmichael as the women's soccer program's new assistant coach on Wednesday, July 24. Carmichael owns over 17 years of both coaching and player development experience.

"We are excited to have Matt with us," said Constable, who has guided his team to the NCAA Tournament in each of his four seasons. "He has a good soccer background, both as a player and as a coach. We look forward to having him here playing an important role in the continuous progression of our program."

Carmichael joins the Nova Southeastern staff following previous coaching stints in Europe and across the United States, including a stop at Wesley College in Delaware, where he completed the Master of Arts in Teaching program. In addition, the native of Glasgow, Scotland has served as the Technical Director of Maestro Soccer and as the Program Director for the West Chester United Soccer Club in Pennsylvania.

"I'm really looking forward to joining the NSU women's soccer coaching staff," Carmichael stated. "I will be looking to help support the soccer program's continued growth and success on and off the field."

Prior to entering the coaching ranks, Carmichael spent time as a player for St. Mirren FC of the Scottish Premier League from 1998-2002 before signing with Johnstone Burgh FC of the Scottish Junior Super League from 2003-2005.

As a coach, he has earned his USCAA Premier Diploma, USSF C License, USCAA Advanced National Diploma, and a Scottish FA C License.
