AS A SENIOR (2020)
Despite her senior campaign shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic, closed out her final season with the Sharks on a high note, helping lead NSU to its highest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) final national ranking at No. 3 … Partnered with sophomore Natalie Espinal, was named an ITA All-American in doubles and garnered the ITA’s top national slot as the No. 1 NCAA Division II doubles pair throughout the 2020 season – a first for the Sharks program … Partnered with Espinal, she delivered additional program firsts in the fall – during NSU’s first-ever invitation to the ITA Cup (Rome, Ga.), the tandem produced a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory over Tusculum’s Annie and Caitlyn McCullough to garner NSU’s first ITA Cup Division II Championship in doubles … Playing with Espinal at No. 1 doubles, earned an 8-1 (3-0 SSC) record, grabbing victory in their lone ranked match against Flagler’s No. 21 pair, Alessandra Traub and Paloma Martinez … As a singles player largely at No. 5, with appearances in the fourth and third flights, registered an 8-2 (3-0 SSC) record on the season … Received Tennis’ Unsung Hero Award during the annual Sharky’s Awards presentation in April … Ranked 20th in the ITA South Region during the 2020 season and finished her career amassing a 25-8 record in singles for a 75.8 winning percentage, while knocking out wins at an 85.3 percent rate on her 29-5 career doubles record.
AS A JUNIOR (2019)
Earned a 17-6 singles record, making appearances in every flight aside from No. 1, and reeled off an 11-match win streak from Feb. 9 to March 8…Tied the program’s doubles record with 2006’s Ulia Talalenko on a 21-4 doubles finish with a 19-4 mark alongside Natalie Espinal and 2-0 paired with Ivana Djordjevic… The tandem with Espinal began the year unranked in the ITA standings but rose as high as No. 24 on the season…Earned second-team All-SSC honors in doubles…Collected doubles victories in seven of the final eight matches, beginning with St. Thomas on April 10 to knock out seven straight into NCAA postseason all the way to a Regional opening-round win against Clark Atlanta (May 13)…With Espinal at the SSC Championships, Wardenburg garnered second-flight victories over No. 20 Florida Southern (6-4), No. 1 Barry (6-1) and No. 2 Lynn (6-2) – aiding the Sharks to the program’s second-ever SSC Runner-Up finish.
PRIOR SCHOOL
Played two years under Brian Slack at ASA College Miami, earning ITA Doubles All-America as a sophomore with partner Lisa Khamassi and ITA and NJCAA Doubles All-America as a freshman, also with Khamassi…Ranked No. 1 in Region and nationally for third-flight doubles during her freshman season…As a sophomore, ranked No. 2 in Region at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles…Closing her sophomore campaign, Wardenburg and Khamassi were semifinalists in doubles at Nationals and she was the runner-up playing No. 4 singles…Also played in four soccer games in the fall of her sophomore year.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played for Peter Langsford at Saint Kentergian College in New Zealand…Also played soccer, helping St. Kent’s to a third in country ranking and second in Region as the team’s highest goal scorer…Received the Physical Athletics Trophy.
PERSONAL
From Pauanui, New Zeland…Majoring in Sport Management…Daughter of Richard and Suzy Wardenburg and has one sister, Katie…Fan of the New Zealand All Blacks national rugby union team.
