Amanda Moran finished her first season as a volunteer assistant coach at Nova Southeastern.
Moran helped lead the Sharks to a 9-18 overall mark in 2010, while going 3-13 in the Sunshine State Conference. With her past experience, Moran had many young players to grow and teach, while NSU fielded three freshman and five sophomores. She was able to help the Sharks record back-to-back wins against West Alabama and District of Columbia, while also repeating this feat against Alabama-Huntsville and West Georgia later in the year.
She comes to NSU from Division I Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., where she was a head coach from 2004-07.
Prior to being head coach at Lehigh, Moran served three years as the head coach at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Del. She enjoyed a great deal of success as head coach, leading the Wildcats to the top of the CACC Conference with a two-year conference record of 38-0, two consecutive undefeated seasons in the CACC, and a conference Coach of the Year honor as well.
Previously, Moran served as an assistant at Wilmington for two seasons, where she was responsible for the scouting and recruiting of prospective student-athletes, while also assisting the head coach with planning and scheduling practices. Moran has also served as head coach at South Oldham High School in Crestwood, Kentucky for five seasons.
Moran was a multi-sport athlete in college, running track at the University of Georgia and playing basketball at Winthrop University before earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Physical Education and Health Promotion from the University of Louisville. She also spent time as assistant women’s basketball and conditioning coach at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
