Selene Teitelbaum

Teitelbaum was named the Assistant Volleyball Coach in the spring of 2018 and will enter her first season in the fall.

“Selene is a tremendous addition to our program,” boasted King. “With over 15 years of college coaching experience from all over the country, especially her time at Winona State in the NSIC, she brings a wealth of information and new training techniques and philosophies to our gym. Being a local club coach has afforded her the chance to watch our program develop and be ready to dive right in, and her recruiting connections in Florida will make an immediate impact in the search for future Sharks. We cannot be happier to have her join our Shark family.”

“I am absolutely thrilled and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the NSU athletic department as the assistant volleyball coach,” explained Teitelbaum. “I look forward to working with the talented and hard-working group of student-athletes and helping to improve the program in every way possible alongside Coach King. Go Sharks!”

Teitelbaum spent one season at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2014 as the assistant women’s volleyball coach, but before that was at Winona State University for four (2010-14). While there she held the title of Associate Head Women’s Volleyball Coach/Student-Athlete Academic Advisor and Physical Education Instructor. The Warriors have improved during each of her seasons on the bench, posting 20 victories for the first time since 1993 during the 2012 season. WSU went 20-11 on the year, setting a new program record for consecutive victories in the process with 15.

Prior to joining the Winona State staff, Teitelbaum spent six seasons as the head coach at California-Santa Cruz. She was also an assistant with the school’s men’s program for three seasons. At UC-Santa Cruz, Teitelbaum posted an overall record of 88-98, leading the team to back-to-back 20-win seasons. She coached 11 NCAA Division III All-Americans and had six consecutive seasons with players in the AVCA 30 Dig Club.

She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), as well as a Certified CrossFit Level II Trainer and an ACE Certified Personal Trainer. She is a Gold Medal Squared member and is CAP Level I Certified.
